This won’t apply to most readers, but it’s worth knowing if you have a company that invests surplus cash.

Are InvestEngine Legit?

Yes, InvestEngine is a legitimate UK investment platform used by hundreds of thousands of investors. The company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and client investments are held separately from the company’s own assets.

At the time of writing, InvestEngine also has an excellent 4.7-star rating on Trustpilot, with many customers praising the platform’s simplicity, low costs and customer service.

What To Invest In?

This is NOT financial advice.

I personally chose to invest in Invesco FTSE All-World ticker FWRP. (I always chose a world tracker fund that invests in as many global companies as possible).  However there are multiple funds you can choose to invest in.

I chose it for my InvestEngine account because:

  • It invests across thousands of companies worldwide.
  • It spreads risk across many countries and sectors rather than relying on a handful of companies.

Again, this is simply what I chose to do with my own money. You should do your own research and decide what is appropriate for your circumstances.

As always, investments can go down as well as up in value, and this email is not financial advice. Only invest money you can afford to leave invested and always do your own research.

My InvestEngine Experience

I initially signed up for the cash bonus through a General Investment Account, but I was impressed enough with the platform that I later opened a SIPP too. It’s easy to use, and whenever I’ve contacted support, they’ve been quick to respond via email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is InvestEngine Good for Beginners?

InvestEngine is well suited for beginners due to its zero fees, ETF-only focus, and simple interface. The lack of complex charts and frequent trading tools reduces overwhelm. If you’re after a straightforward, low-cost way to start investing, it’s one of the better options out there.

Is InvestEngine Really Fee-Free?

Pretty much, yes and this is what makes it stand out. The DIY account carries a 0% platform fee, meaning you pay nothing to InvestEngine itself. The only costs are the underlying fund fees (known as the TER) of the ETFs you choose to hold.

The ETF fees are typically between 0.10% and 0.50% per year, but that goes to the fund provider, not InvestEngine. There are no trading commissions, no account fees, and no withdrawal fees.

The one exception, if you opt for a Managed portfolio, InvestEngine charges 0.25% per year on top of the ETF costs. For a DIY investor though, it’s as close to free as it gets.

What Accounts Does InvestEngine Offer?

InvestEngine offers :

  • General Investment Account (GIA)
  • Stocks and Shares ISA,
  • SIPP (pension)

They also offer a Business Account for investing company surplus cash.  At the time of writing the offer for opening a business account was a free £100 to £200 bonus!

All accounts carry the same 0% platform fee on DIY portfolios.

Remember to double check all terms and conditions.
